My name is Ms. Allyson Stephenson. I was born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC where I attended Northern Nash High School. While growing up I was always very active in sports. Throughout school I participated in soccer, cross country, and track & field, but my main sport was basketball.

After high school, I attended Meredith College, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics as well as a minor in Biological Science. I also recieved a 9-12 Teaching License via the  Meredith College Department of Education. During my tenure at Meredith, I was a member of the Avenging Angels Basketball Team and was also named co-captain my junior and senior years.

I have aspired to be a teacher since childhood, but it was during my time in college that I found my calling to become a Math teacher. I completed my student teaching here at Athens Drive High School teaching Geometry and Common Core 1B. I love making a difference in students' lives and enjoy teaching students to learn to appreciate and love mathematics.

I have always loved Math and enjoy the puzzle-like problems that challenge my mind. When not in the classroom, I see math all around me and this view on life is what drove me toward teaching. I enjoy the mathematical issues that arise in nature, the economy and overall life and hope to bring this way of viewing the world to my students.
